1. Passive Fire Protection

Passive Fire Protection attempts to contain fires or slow the spread through compartmentalization of the overall building such as fire-resistant walls, floors and doors. It is in effect an integral component of the components of structural fire protection and fire safety. This stops or limits the spread of fire from the room of fire origin to the rest of the building, limiting damage and providing more time for the occupants to evacuate in case of emergencies.

2. Active Fire Protection

The best way to define active fire protection systems is to think about items or systems that require an action or motion in order to start working.
For example, alarms and sprinkler systems are designed to trigger in the presence of smoke and heat. Alarms will alert those working or living in the building and sprinkler systems can slow the spread of fire. Fire extinguishers can put out small fires completely, and in the case of larger fires, firefighters are the best equipped to tackle the blaze and put the fire out.

3. Diamond Drilling

Diamond drilling allows accurate holes to be drilled through nearly any material – including stone, metal, concrete and even reinforced concrete. This strength is due to the use of diamonds – which are the toughest naturally occurring material in the world – being embedded into the drill bit.

Since diamond drilling works on a rotary, noise pollution is greatly reduced. Wet diamond cutting also controls dust, which is now recognised as one of the most hazardous substances in the construction industry. Overall diamond drilling and cutting methods are safe and fast making them highly cost effective.

In concrete, brick, natural stone and tile, diamond drilling is recognised as the most clean and efficient method of making penetrations for services. Hole sizes range from 8mm diameter to 1000mm diameter.
